I am pleased to be able to offer you modern psychoeducation (REBT/CBT) for emotional well-being and self-control, along with ancient Stoic philosophy for self-discipline and perseverance.
You know by now that diets don’t work and that chronic weight yoyo-ing is unhealthy and demoralizing. Research also shows that gradual weight loss is more sustainable than crash dieting.
I encourage clients to imagine (we use self-hypnosis too) how they will feel, act and look (in that order) one year from now successfully at their goal weight, instead of having continued to gain weight during that time.

But recent rethinking of “diabesity” challenges the prevailing “eat less and move more” hypothesis. Instead, it advances the “hormonal obesity theory” (insulin, leptin, cortisol) and advocates intermittent fasting (under medical supervision for diabetics) plus healthy stress and sleep management.
